Is Being A Jehovah's Witness a Mental Disorder?
by Amber Rose infrequently i have seen the subject of borderlind personallity disorder mentioned on this board.
many people here feel that friends or relatives display many of the charactaristics of the disorder.
people with histories of abuse seem to be drawn to this religion.

People with histories of abuse seem to be drawn to this religion. Many JW's have depression. Lots of others have emotional issues. Personally, I feel much happier and emotionally stable (not that I was particularly unstable before) now that I no longer believe the JW's. My question is this: Does being a JW cause symptoms that mimic other disorders, and can these symptoms be "cured" by removing the cause (no longer believeing JW). As I said, I feel healthier not being a JW. I also believe that many JWs that I know would be much happier to be out of the JW environment.

This is one of those great iroines. JW's showing off how wonderful they think they are, in various ways, thinking they are impressing everyone with a "good witness". Meanwhile, everyone else is thinking, "What a F'ing looney, or why don't they get a real job, or did they ever read a science book, or how is ignoring your family supposed to make them like you?" Gotta love it.

The Churches Are Going JW Style
by Undecided ini have noticed some of the local churches are beginning to call on homes in the neighborhood.
we weren't home but they left a little bag of stuff.
i went to church with my wife last night and they were trying to start a house calling work.

Yes, JW's say this is proof that they are the only one's that have god's blessing. Occasionally local churches will try to start up door-to-door preaching but quickly fizzle out. (Tisk, Tisk, Jehovah doesn't approve ot their work, says the JWs) Unlike the JWs though, they realise that door to door preaching is horribly ineffective... maybe there's a better way of reaching people in this modern era...

Why don't Witnesses indentify themselves at the door when in service?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy 17 year old daughter told me 2 men were at the door saturday looking for adults that lived in the house.my wife and i were out of town for 2 days.they had suits on and carrying book bags.
they asked if she was over 18. she replied that she wasn't.
they left without indentifiying themselves.

Yeah, that was always really awkward. We must have been told not to say "Jehovah's Witness" right away because people wouldn't listen. I remember people asking "who is is?" and not knowing what to say. That's rediculous! Not knowing how to identify yourself. "Uh...uh... we'er... uh, volunteers" was the ususal response, followed by "volunteers for what?"

These are propaganda songs of indoctrination.
That is exactly right. These songs were said to be part of our sacred worship of Jehovah, and very seroius. Now that I think about the words I had been saying, I shudder.

Does anyone remember the one song that has the line, "Let god be true though every man a liar proves to be."? I always felt uncomfortable singing this. Every man is a liar? Not very upbuilding, if you know what I mean. I also don't think kids should be taught this in church. Any thoughts?
